17thC Wainscot Armchair.

Fabulous,Oak Wainscot chair, Gun stock arms, seat board and lower front stretcher have been replaced at some point, and the legs have been capped to give a seat height of 16 inches. The most striking feature is the Top Stay rail, depicting Dragons or Serpents, that back in the day were held in great reverence, symbolising their Cosmic Power, in this case possibly a Welsh chair, when one considers the Welsh National Flag today depicting the Pen-Dragon, or Dragon Champion, still useable, with fabulous patination on the arms and Stay rail, c1640, plenty other evidence of past restorations, indicating an early age. £800.00
