A quite rare Kurdish Rug from the city of Sarkisla, in the Province of Sivas, East Anatolien Region of South Eastern Turkey,
53 inches wide, 76 long, 20thC C1930.
This rug i bought from a German Gentleman who lived in Iran during the Shar's period of rule in the 1970's, and has been hanging on his wall ever since!
Condition is very good, deep pile and strong colour, with the fabulous Geometric Rhumboid shapes, a symbol used - even in 17thC Jacobean furniture, world wide ever since Euclyd , came up with the design 4000 years ago!
There are some small stretch marks from hanging vertically for so long, but overall, it stands out with its glorious rich warm colours.
