Waggerty' Wa' Clock...

November 16, 2019

Or, "wagging wall clock", Black Forrest origins, brought into Fife in Scotland by boats returning from delivering coal mined in Leven, clocks along with Pan Tiles from Holland, so visiting coastal fishing villages along the Fife coast today you can see the roofs adorned with Pan Tiles,

This one has brass bound lead weights, brass pendulum, brass chains, and a bell.

30hr Birdcage movement, interestingly , these clocks are direct format copies of early 17thC designs, before the "longcase"  had evolved, this one dates to 1920 thereabouts, has an inlaid hexagon frame, brass door, brass hands, very quirky! but good fun and works well,..
